June 2012.

Running in tandem with Dublin’s Science Gallery exhibition, “Surface Tension” at EYEBEAM, in New York, was a momentary installation by artist, Nicole McKenna. The artwork “iReign” consisted of a solitary rain-splashed yellow raincoat suspended on a coat hook at the entrance to the exhibition. The temporal nature of this artwork, further enhanced its existence. Its fleeting occupation, permitted (real) rain drops to gather and collect within the gallery space, only to disappear in time.

iReign occupied a tactical position at the entrance to a show concerned with “water’s physical properties, its role in politics and economics, and ways in which it may be harnessed, cleaned, and distributed…”

The artist presents us with a timely reminder of just precious our water resources are.

GONE is a sculptural light piece, with a timely presence.
As Ireland sits paused, our dreams disabled mid-sequence.
Promised futures have disappeared. Gone!

With a nod to Heidegger’s “Being and Now” and J. M. E. McTaggart’s “In the flow of time”, GONE references classic time theory, but this is not required of the viewer. GONE is a sculptural light piece,  with a timely presence.

GONE… in the wake of now

Synopses: Data / Object / Model is a sculptural neon piece. This artwork is a 3d visualisation of data – in two flavours.
Online / offline data visualisation is currently in overload mode. Mapping / tracking  and collecting of personal data is a constant norm.

This artwork questions the priority of asthetic composition over the legitimacy of data (collection, massage and treatment).
